This is the doll that I made for the Birth announcement of our son Sem who became 26 years old yesterday. It is also the cover of the first book about doll making that I published
After 26 years the doll needed some restauration so I did for Sem’s Birthday. Not my favourite job. It is not only the picture but in reality the whole piece colored more yellow. So I added some ochre and gold to the parts that needed replacement.
Yes! I finally started a new collection of dolls. First step was to dig in my materials and attributes because I find “stuff” very inspiring. Second step was to make sketches of wat I am intending to make and think and dream about how to achieve that. Third step is the hand sculpting of the body parts in porcelain and I am in the middle of that process now. Here you see some heads I am working on. These are not fired yet. The one in the front right is going to be a princess.
In the last issue of the leading German Doll Magazine Puppen & Spielzeug this four page article was published about me AND an article that I wrote about NIADA. The article about me was written by Ruth Ndouop Kalajian, a pleasant person to work with. In the headline she calls me the Storyteller. Nice!
