Mrs. Otake had asked me to teach a workshop in Fukushima and we decided to make flowers from synthetic organza.
In advance I asked her if I could use candles in the venue and she did not see a problem. The workshop was fully booked.
But just before my workshop started I noticed that there were sprinklers everywhere and I got a vision of these hundreds of beautiful dolls exhibited all getting soaking wet when I lighted a candle…….
So we had to look for another spot for the workshop and we ended up outside on a plateau between two fire escapes. Two tables and chairs were hastily placed there. It just was a bit windy there but the girls were happy (as far as I understood) and we did not activate the sprinklers.
